Created in partnership with the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, this design reflects the Seminole Tribe’s remarkable resilience—rooted in their survival through conflict, their deep connection to the land, and their ongoing leadership in Florida’s cultural and environmental landscape. From withstanding the Seminole Wars to thriving in modern times through innovation and stewardship, their story is one of courage applied with purpose.

At the center of the design stands a Seminole woman in a traditional dugout canoe, navigating the winding waters of the Everglades. Her steady posture, guided by a firm yet graceful stroke of the paddle, speaks to determination forged through generations. Behind her rises a chickee hut, its palm-thatched roof a symbol of both ingenuity and harmony with Florida’s natural environment—an architecture shaped by necessity, climate, and heritage.

Her brightly colored patchwork dress, distinctive loop necklace, and traditional hairstyle honor the Seminole identity, echoing the artistry, storytelling, and community that define their culture. Every detail celebrates a legacy preserved through artisans, educators, and elders who safeguarded their traditions in the face of immense hardship.
