How metals subscriptions work

Precious metals markets can be exciting—but they can also be emotional.

We implemented subscriptions because we got tired of watching customers panic-buy after prices had already surged, hesitate when prices were lower, or feel pressured to guess the “perfect” time to make a purchase.

A monthly purchasing plan offers a calmer alternative. Instead of trying to predict every market move, you can build your position gradually through consistent purchases over time.

This approach is commonly known as dollar-cost averaging.

Before You Subscribe

Please keep these important points in mind:

  • Subscription prices are variable and may increase or decrease.
  • Starting a subscription does not lock in today’s price.
  • Shipping charges and applicable taxes may also change.
  • We will email you five days before each scheduled renewal.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription through My Account.
  • Subscriptions are subject to product availability.

A More Disciplined Way to Buy Precious Metals

Dollar-cost averaging means purchasing on a regular schedule instead of making one large, emotionally driven decision.

When market prices are higher, your scheduled purchase buys less metal. When prices are lower, the same purchase amount may buy more. Over time, this can help reduce the pressure of trying to identify the perfect entry point.

Dollar-cost averaging does not guarantee a profit or protect against losses. What it can provide is a more consistent and disciplined way to accumulate precious metals without reacting to every headline, price spike, or sudden market decline.

How Your Subscription Works

When a product is available on subscription, you can choose between:

  • A one-time purchase
  • A recurring monthly subscription

Your first order is charged when you complete checkout. Future renewal orders are then scheduled according to the billing date shown in your cart and at checkout.

For example, a subscription that renews on the first of each month will generate a new order and charge the payment method saved to your account on or around that date.

Renewal Reminder Emails

We’ll email you three days before each scheduled renewal as a reminder that your subscription is about to process.

Any amount shown in the reminder is an estimate based on current product prices, shipping, and applicable taxes. Precious-metals prices and market conditions may change between the time the reminder is sent and the time your renewal is processed.

Your final renewal total will be calculated using the current product prices, shipping charges, and applicable taxes at the time the renewal is processed. The final amount may be higher or lower than the estimate shown in your reminder email.

The three-day reminder gives you time to:

  • Review the upcoming renewal
  • Confirm your shipping and billing information
  • Update your payment method
  • Cancel the subscription before renewal, when applicable

To avoid an upcoming renewal charge, please make any changes before the scheduled renewal begins processing.

Subscription Prices Are Not Fixed

This is the most important part to understand:

Starting a subscription does not lock in today’s product price.

Precious metals and Goldback prices change with the market. The price of your subscription item is recalculated using the current product price before each renewal.

Your future renewal price may be:

  • Higher than your original purchase price
  • Lower than your original purchase price
  • The same as your original purchase price

The amount displayed when you begin your subscription is the current price, not a guaranteed price for every future renewal.

Example

Suppose you begin a monthly subscription when a product costs $8.20.

If the current product price is $8.45 at the next renewal, the subscription item will renew at $8.45.

If the current product price falls to $7.95, the subscription item will renew at $7.95.

The purpose of the subscription is to purchase consistently—not to fix or guarantee a particular price.

Shipping May Also Change

Shipping is calculated separately from the product price.

The shipping amount charged on a renewal may change if:

  • Our carrier rates change
  • You change your selected shipping service
  • Your recurring merchandise subtotal qualifies for free shipping
  • Your recurring merchandise subtotal no longer qualifies for free shipping
  • Your shipping address changes

Our current free-shipping threshold applies to the merchandise included in the individual renewal order—not to the value of one-time products purchased with your original order.

For example, a mixed initial order containing $150 in one-time products and $150 in subscription products may qualify for free shipping at checkout. However, the future renewal contains only the $150 subscription portion, so paid shipping may apply to that renewal.

Taxes and Final Renewal Totals

Applicable taxes may also change based on your shipping address, current tax rules, and the products included in the renewal.

Your renewal total may therefore include:

  • The current product price
  • The selected quantity
  • Current shipping charges
  • Applicable taxes

Any recurring total displayed when you subscribe should be treated as an estimate based on current pricing and shipping conditions.

What Stays the Same

Unless you make changes to your subscription, the following generally remain the same:

  • The product selected
  • The quantity selected
  • The renewal frequency
  • Your saved shipping address
  • Your selected payment method
  • Your chosen shipping service, when available

The product price, shipping charge, taxes, and final renewal total may change.

Managing Your Subscription

We’ll send a reminder email three days before each renewal. Any amount shown in that reminder is an estimate. Your final charge will be based on current product prices, shipping, and applicable taxes when the renewal is processed.

You can manage your subscription through the My Account section of DefyTheGrid.

Depending on the subscription’s status and available options, you may be able to:

  • Review your next payment date
  • View the current recurring total
  • Update your payment method
  • Update your address
  • Review past renewal orders
  • Cancel your subscription

We will send a reminder email five days before each renewal so you have time to review your subscription before the payment is processed.

To avoid an upcoming renewal charge, please cancel or update your subscription before the renewal begins processing. Changes made after processing has started may apply to the following renewal instead.

If a Renewal Payment Fails

If a renewal payment is unsuccessful, we may retry the saved payment method and notify you by email.

Your subscription may be placed on hold until payment is completed or your payment method is updated.

Product Availability

Subscriptions are subject to product availability.

If a subscribed product becomes unavailable, we may pause or delay the renewal and contact you. We will not automatically substitute a different product without notifying you.

Why We Offer Subscriptions

Our goal is not to encourage customers to chase markets or make rushed decisions.

Subscriptions are designed for customers who want to:

  • Build a precious-metals position gradually
  • Make consistent monthly purchases
  • Reduce the temptation to panic-buy during market surges
  • Avoid waiting indefinitely for the “perfect” price
  • Create a long-term accumulation habit

Markets will move. Prices will rise and fall. A subscription helps place the focus on consistency rather than prediction.

Important Considerations

Precious metals can fluctuate in value, and no purchasing strategy eliminates risk. Dollar-cost averaging does not guarantee gains, prevent losses, or ensure that your average purchase price will be lower than the current market price.

DefyTheGrid does not provide investment, tax, or financial advice. You are responsible for deciding whether a recurring precious-metals purchase is appropriate for your goals and financial situation.

The Key Takeaway

Your subscription renews at the current product price—not the price you paid when you first subscribed.

Future charges may increase or decrease as precious-metals prices, market conditions, shipping rates, and applicable taxes change.

By starting a subscription, you are choosing a consistent purchasing schedule while accepting that each renewal will be priced according to current conditions.
