The New Hampshire 25 Goldback brings Fortitudine, the personification of fortitude, to life amid the rugged landscapes of the Granite State. She wears a Minuteman’s military coat over a colonial-style dress striped in red and white, evoking the revolutionary banners that would inspire the stars and stripes of the United States. A musket rests over her shoulder, and a powder horn hangs at her side—symbols of the supplies seized during the historic Fort William and Mary raids. Nearby, a granite monument bears New Hampshire’s resolute motto: “Live Free or Die.”
Beneath her feet, a mother porcupine and her young illustrate the protective strength and vigilance found in love. A maple tree tapped for sap reaches skyward, representing endurance and the steady drawing of life from nature’s cycles.
