About the Design

The art on the Wyoming 5 Goldback shows Audentia ( Boldness or Fearlessness) as a new rodeo queen. She is wearing her performance outfit and her trusty steed also joins her. This image is inspired by Esther a Biblical character who illustrates similar qualities to Audentia including courage and strength.

Esther took on the greatest danger to save her people from annihilation. Her actions led to an unexpected shift in policy that saved many innocent lives, including hers. These goldbacks are a fitting tribute to such a courageous woman who once risked everything for those under her protection.

The roses and thorns in this design also remind us of the beauty and danger of boldness. We must be thoughtful in how we exercise boldness, doing so at the right time and with patience.

The scroll symbolizes the law in Esther’s story that was ill-intended, the king’s scepter represents his grace that rewarded the boldness, and the ropes are for those evil ones whose intentions were revealed through the bold actions. Below Audentia is the caption, “Doubt Not, Fear Not”.
