About the Design

The 25 Goldback features Victoria or Victory, to honor women’s right to vote. This design is exceptionally special since it was the first one ever made for the series. The artist created this piece as an example of his work.

Victory proudly proclaims “Votes Counting Since 1870” to commemorate the history of women’s suffrage in the United States. Utah was the first state to have a female cast her ballot, with Seraph Young being the one to do it. Wyoming granted women their right to vote just a few months before that remarkable event.

This Goldback design was crafted with many of Utah’s trailblazing women in mind. Women like Martha Hughes Cannon, who was elected the first female State Senator in 1911, and women who first taught over the pulpit made history. This design honors their accomplishments!

Victoria is seen with a child in the design, symbolizing how lots of the women who fought for suffrage were accompanied by their children.
