Utah 10 Goldback – Aeternitas (Eternity)
The Utah 10 Goldback features Aeternitas, the virtue of Eternity, in a design inspired by Utah’s prehistoric past and the remarkable discovery of the Utahraptor near Moab.
Aeternitas represents the search for knowledge across vast stretches of time. Her presence reflects the work of paleontologists who uncover clues from the distant past and help reveal the story of life on Earth.
At the center of the design is the Utahraptor, one of Utah’s most famous prehistoric discoveries. This large predatory dinosaur lived during the Early Cretaceous Period and helped establish Utah as an important destination for paleontology and fossil research. Its inclusion connects the artwork to the state’s extraordinary geological and scientific heritage.
The design is filled with imagery tied to the passage of time. Alpha and Omega symbols appear on Aeternitas’ clothing, representing beginning and end, while sand slipping through her fingers suggests the constant movement of time. Nearby, an hourglass reinforces the idea that every age eventually gives way to another.
A Utahraptor skull serves as a reminder of the ancient creatures that once inhabited the region millions of years before people arrived.
