About the Design

This Wyoming 25 Goldback Denomination, like every goldback gold note has a beautifully detailed design. It is the first to illustrate Fideletas, or Loyalty. She is a Wyoming ranch girl, who is patiently waiting for her groom to arrive at their wedding ceremony. Behind her stands the majestic Grand Teton Mountains, as well as the small log Episcopal Chapel of the Transfiguration, built in 1925 in Grand Teton National Park.

This artwork uses the parable of the ten virgins from the Gospel of Matthew as inspiration. It draws strong comparisons between preparing for a much-awaited event by filling one’s lamp with oil and staying loyal to what matters.

Fidelitas is a symbol of loyalty and commitment. We see this as she sits on a wooden fence, adorned in bridal clothing while holding an oil lamp and cruse of oil. The inscription reads “Faithful to the End”, representing the depth of dedication one should have for their loved ones or cause.

Her loyal cattle dog is laying at her feet, alongside a bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, and a small bowl of salt spilling onto the earth. These three items share a deep Christian meaning of commitment to and from Jesus Christ. The cow in the background symbolizes the abundance and blessings that come with being loyal.

The wheat represents the rewards of loyalty, both spiritual and material. It symbolizes the harvest that is yielded from faithful service and dedication in our lives. At the same time it also serves as a reminder that one must be loyal to reap these rewards. Those who are not will be separated from those that are loyal.
