Central to the design is the phrase: “Fortitude brings victory over vice.” This is illustrated by a bobcat lunging at a tortoise, symbolizing bold, decisive action overcoming slow resistance or apathy. Fortitudine wears a laurel wreath, representing honor, and holds a palm branch, a traditional emblem of victory and resilience. She embodies the enduring strength of the human spirit and the triumph of courage in the face of challenges.
